HOW IT WORKS

DFT’s dance season begins in early September and ends with 2 performances at the end of March or beginning of April. The season consists of approx. 20-25 Sundays of dance, working around holidays. Dance Force Toronto has different level-based teams: Beginner, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, and Advanced (teams may be combined). When enrolling, all dancers will be required to fill out a placement form to outline their dance experience so that they can be placed on an appropriate team, based on their skill level. Any dancers looking to join the Intermediate or Advanced levels must attend a placement day held in early September. For more information on each level, please visit our Teams page.
During the season, team rehearsals will take place on Sundays (exact time depends on team placement) and are an hour and a half to 2 hours in length. Rehearsals between September and December will focus on technique and choreographing Full Team dances. Rehearsals between January and March/April will continue choreography as well as cleaning routines in preparation for our shows. Sunday team rehearsals will focus on jazz and contemporary styles, but dancers have the option to join or audition for the Company Pieces being offered that year (such as ballet, improv, hip hop, etc). These Company Pieces require extra rehearsals on top of the Sunday rehearsal.
