Code of conduct
Dance Force Toronto’s mission is to create a space for individuals of all skill levels to continue dancing and performing once they have left their home studio, post-secondary dance club/team, or are just looking to start dancing now. In order to continue to foster a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable dance community for its members, DFT encourages all dancers to abide by its code of conduct and its policies.
For our year-end shows to be as successful as possible, it is important for dancers to recognize that their commitment to the company is required over the full 7-8 month period.
Attendance & Accountability
Due to the nature of Dance Force Toronto being a performance-based company, attendance during choreography classes is important. Absences affect yourself, your teacher(s) and your fellow dancers.
-
We ask that dancers arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class so that they are ready and present for warm up.
-
Showing up late disrupts the flow of class, and impacts both the Teacher and other dancers.
-
It is important for dancers to be present for warm-up to prevent possible injury.
-
-
Beginner dancers must have sufficient attendance during technique classes at the start of the year, or their participation in the year-end shows may be revoked
-
Teachers to exercise their discretion after the 8-week window
-
-
If dancers have to miss a class for some reason, they must let their Teacher know as far in advance as possible.
-
Dancers are accountable for coming prepared for class, having reviewed any choreography from previous weeks to ensure each class is productive.
-
Dancers are to reach out to teacher(s) in a timely manner if anything is unclear or they have questions
-
-
It is the dancers responsibility to catch up on any material (including choreography & formations) they have missed.
-
An excess of absences or lates may result in dancers being removed from sections of a dance (using the teachers’ discretion)
Respect in the Company
Dance Force Toronto is fully operated by volunteers who dedicate their personal time to the company. Respect is integral to ensure the company maintains a safe and supportive environment.
-
All dancers are to act in a respectful manner to their Teachers and other Executive Team members
-
All dancers are to act in a respectful manner to fellow dancers
-
No gossip or putting down of other dancers will be tolerated
Any dancers who fail to comply with our Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the company. Your commitment to the company’s code of conduct allows for a successful season for every Dance Force Toronto member!
